Dental Implants

Dental implants, or dentures on implants, are an extremely popular choice for those who are either missing teeth or have no teeth at all, but still have sufficient bone in their jaw to support them.

At Denture Professionals, we are dedicated to providing all the advice and information that people require to make an informed decision as to right type of dentures, false teeth or related products for their specific needs.

If you are interested in getting dental implants or want to find out more, why not get in touch with a BACDT-certified clinical dental technician, whose details are available in our directory.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are inserted into the jawbone of the patient, usually under local anaesthetic, to which a post and crown is attached after a couple of weeks of the gums healing.

Because implant-supported dentures are much more stable than traditional dentures, it is much easier for wearers to speak and eat. There isn’t any worry of the denture falling out or becoming loose, and you should be able to eat most types of food. Very hard or sticky foods should probably be avoided, however, as this could damage the denture.

Are Dental Implants Suitable for Everyone?

Unfortunately not. It is important to have healthy gums and a sufficiently thick jawbone where the implants will be fitted. Drug abusers, heavy smokers and alcoholics would not be suitable candidates for dentures on implants, nor would those with compromised immune systems.
